Meet Heidi

Movement has the power to change more than your body—it can change how you feel about yourself.

When I was 42, I learned I carry the BRCA1 gene mutation. To reduce my cancer risk, I chose to undergo a hysterectomy followed by a double mastectomy. While those surgeries were lifesaving, they also left me feeling disconnected from my body. I felt like I had lost control of something that had always been mine.

Healing wasn't quick, and it wasn't easy.

I began exercising not to change the way I looked, but to rebuild strength, regain confidence, and reconnect with my body. Little by little, I realized that every workout, every small victory, and every step forward helped me reclaim a part of myself.

That experience is the heart of Slow Burn Pilates.

I know what it feels like to start over. I know how intimidating it can be to trust your body again. That's why I teach with patience, purpose, and compassion—meeting you where you are while helping you discover just how strong you're capable of becoming.

I believe strength is about so much more than muscles. It's about resilience, confidence, and learning to trust your body again—whether you're recovering from surgery, healing from an injury, navigating life's changes, or simply looking to feel stronger than you did yesterday.

My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, challenged, and empowered. A place where progress happens at your pace, where movement is intentional, and where you can build strength while reclaiming your body.

Because healing doesn't happen all at once. It happens one breath, one movement, and one victory at a time.

I can't wait to be part of your journey.

About

A studio built for the way bodies actually change.

SLOW burn is a boutique reformer Pilates studio in Gig Harbor focused on intentional movement, strength, and connection to your body.

Our approach is simple: slow down, pay attention, and build strength with purpose. Every movement is deliberate. Every detail matters. And every session is designed to help you move with greater strength, control, confidence, and ease.

With just eight reformers in each class, you receive individual attention while still experiencing the energy and connection of a small group. New members begin with five private sessions, creating a strong foundation before moving into classes.

SLOW burn welcomes every body and every stage of movement—from those returning to exercise after an injury to those looking to build strength, improve mobility, or simply feel better in their body.

We believe Pilates is more than a workout. It's a way to become stronger, more aware, and more connected to the body you live in.

Slow down. Get stronger. Reclaim your body.

Small by design

With small classes and thoughtful coaching, every session gives you the opportunity to move with intention, build strength, and connect more deeply with your body.

Slow on purpose

We teach at the tempo where the stabilizers wake up. If it feels harder than it looks, that's the point.

Built to repeat

A method you can do three times a week for a decade — and still be learning.
